• How To Get Rid of Bed Bugs Naturally

Finding an effective treatment against bed bugs is not easy. These small invaders are highly resistant to insecticides and there is no miracle product or anti-bed bug treatment that can eradicate them in one application.

To get rid of bed bugs, it is necessary to know them well: to understand their weaknesses, their habits and their reproductive cycle. By rigorously following the natural treatment that you will discover here, you will obtain very good results and will finally be able to sleep ... like a baby!

Take action as quickly as bed bugs breed at a high rate: females lay 2 to 5 eggs per day and between 300 and 500 eggs throughout their careers. Arm yourself with patience and stay calm, because you will have to live together for several weeks. I totally eliminated them after 4 weeks but the bites stopped after 3 days, the time that I inquire, equips me completely and protects my bed 100%.

To get rid of bed bugs, we have five allies to use together: the vacuum cleaner, the steam cleaner, the essential oils, the diatomaceous earth and the pyrethrum spray. The latter is an insecticide that works very well on most flying and crawling insects. It has been proven to kill the bedbug, but some colonies can be very resistant. It is, therefore, necessary to use it in combination with other products such as essential oils. The strength of pyrethrum is its incredible effectiveness in detecting colonies. It is by spraying it into all the holes, cracks, crevices and any possible hiding place that you will see the bugs run away immediately, which makes it possible to identify the hearths then to suck them up or to eliminate them with the steam.

To be able to treat the surfaces and sleep without this unbearable paranoia that takes away the sleep, the essential oils, in addition to being an excellent insecticide/repellent, allow relieving the bites when applied on the body. Then, it is necessary to use another insecticide / natural repellent which acts very well in prevention/protection: Diatomaceous earth, which disintegrates the bugs when they cross it. Finally, to prevent them from getting out of the mattress and box spring, a bug-proof cover is strongly recommended.

You now know how to get rid of bedbugs: it is by using all these natural remedies and therefore harmless, it is by creating a synergy between their properties, that we will make life hard for these parasites and eradicate them.

Here is the anti-bugs treatment that I implemented and that worked in 4 weeks:

1-Determine the origin of the bedbug invasion

Objective: to identify the outbreaks and avoid re-infestation.

Questions: How did they get into your home? Did you return from travel? Did you bring them back in your suitcase, your bag? Where is your building infested? Did you bring them from a friend's house? Are they coming in through the door, the window or a crack in the wall? Do you have any animals, including birds? In short, where are they?

The answers to these questions are important because we will be able to deduce where are the bugs, the places where they pass and determine where to focus our efforts: window frames or doors, birdcage, luggage, clothes, cabinets, bedding, interstices, etc.

For my part, I had three homes: the wardrobe where was my suitcase that was infested in a hotel, my bedding and several fine interstices located in skirting boards and walls.

In addition, be aware that there is no shame to have in case of infestation of bed bugs. As much for civism as to avoid a return of infestation, I invite you to inform your neighbors and coordinate your actions together.

2- Let's do a thorough cleaning of the parts affected by bedbugs and housing

The bed bug is indifferent to the hygiene of housing. It is found in hotels superior to the cleanliness irreproachable. Clean or not, deep cleaning the affected parts will allow us to identify the recesses where these unwanted hosts hide and eliminate part of the colony. Throughout the cleaning, we will use pyrethrum aerosol to force them out of their hiding place and a flashlight to better inspect the corners. Let's not forget that they are nocturnal insects and that we can not see them during the day. Let's go!

-We start with the bed by removing sheets, blankets and pillows and we put the whole thing in machine to more than 65º. For duvets and pillows, we can go to a Lavomatic, being careful not to infest him! Hot drying "warmly" recommended. We will use trash bags for transportation and we will dispose of them immediately.

-Second step: the mattress that we will inspect each corner: buttons, folds, handles, zippers. We remove the cover and we look for bugs. We spray pyrethrum to make them go out. We suck carefully to get the most out. Be attentive to the smallest holes that you find, they may be hidden there.

-Now, the bed frame. We look at the slats and suck in every little hole. Let's forget nothing.

-Passons to cabinets, dressers, night tables and paintings. The contents are carefully removed and placed on a white sheet laid on the floor. This will identify the bugs. Do not put anything on the bed that is clean now. And we aspire the interior of all furniture: drawers, etc ...

-As for sheets, it is necessary to machine wash more than 65º all your clothes and clothes. To do this, empty your wardrobe, and put your clothes in a trash bag and empty it directly into the washing machine, then separate from these bags. You will avoid sowing bugs and eggs in your apartment. For clothes that do not support such temperatures, put them in a hermetically sealed plastic bag that you will place in your freezer at -18º for at least 5 days (2 days are enough in principle, but you never know). If your freezer does not reach this temperature, double the duration. This will be fatal for bed bugs. Then wash these clothes at normal temperature to eliminate dead eggs. And let's not forget the curtains we will have to wash at high temperatures too.

-The floor: Carefully vacuum carpets, rugs and cracks from the floors.

-Then we attack the nooks and all crevices of the room, such as electrical sockets, skirting boards, cracks, door jambs: we suck carefully with the finest tip of the vacuum cleaner. In the same way we dismount the wall sconces, the chandeliers and the electric radiators, and we aspire. Also think of the switches.

-Once the room is thoroughly cleaned, we continue the cleaning carefully throughout the rest of the housing. Even if there is a good chance that the infestation is located in the room, take as much precautions as possible.

3-Use a steam cleaner to eradicate the bedbug colony

The bed bug does not tolerate temperatures above 65º. The steam cleaner (Vaporetto for example) produces a steam of more than 125º. Simply directing the jet of steam on insects and eggs eliminates them instantly. It is the most effective treatment against bed bugs and by far the least polluting. We offer you information on steam cleaners here. So we will continue the fight by ironing over all the places we have aspired in a first time. To attack !

-We start with the bed from which we will clean each corner, both the structure and the mattress.

-Then in the same way that we have sucked inside all our furniture, we spend a second time with the steam cleaner. Do not forget the lamps, all the small items, and your suitcases if you brought them back on a trip.

-We will finish the cleaning of the room by each of its nooks and crevices.

    - Then we move on to the rest of the accommodation.

4-Stoppers all holes, cracks, gaps and crevices

We will now physically prevent potential survivors and new generations of bedbugs from going out. To do this, arm yourself with acrylic putty and tape.

-On mouth all possible holes of the bed frame structure with adhesive tape.

-This is where the work is complicated where, like me, you live in an old apartment with wood paneling, parquet and beams. It is necessary to seal all the hiding places unimaginable with putty or tape. This type of putty can be painted later. The ribbon is withdrawing. Too bad for the aesthetics. It can also be sealed with silicone tube, which is a good option. If some places cannot be plugged, use Diatomaceous Earth (see step 7).

5-Then, have Diatomaceous Earth around all detected and possible foci

To learn more about Diatomaceous Earth and where to get it click here.

You will create as many physical barriers that prevent them from reaching your bed, and the bravest ones will perish trying to cross the diatomaceous earth. Bye ! As seen during step 5, if some gaps can not be blocked, we can block their way with this fine powder.
8-Protect our bed and our nights

-Release the bed of the wall so that the bugs can not access it.

-Disposons lids under the feet of the bed filled with a little diatomaceous earth. The first night you can do it with water mixed with washing up liquid if you have not bought this natural product yet. You can create a second barrier with double-sided tape to stick to each foot of the bed. If you have an IKEA bed without a foot, whose head and foot touch the floor directly, you will have no choice but to resort to the previous trick by sprinkling a little diatomaceous earth on the ribbon. doubles the efficiency.

There are also traps and interceptors for bedbugs.

-Would bedding with essential oils applied by means of a vaporizer. More information on the treatment of bed bugs with essential oils here.

-Recover then the mattress and box spring with a bed bug cover, the surviving bugs will die naturally.

-Finally, the virtues of essential oils will make us a second service: allow us to sleep with a repellent that will prevent bites. For this you will discover an effective recipe to apply on the whole body here. Do not forget that, as for mosquitoes, it is our blood that allows them to reproduce, so the less we will be stung, the fewer they will be!

-Last point, if bedbugs continue to sting you while you sleep while you met all the steps of this treatment is that they drop on the bed from the ceiling. Which means that either, they manage to reach the ceiling by climbing on the walls or there is a fireplace in the ceiling (which is rare). In this case, we will start by inspecting the latter using a stepladder, treat all the fireplaces as indicated in the previous points and seal with mastic / tape. Then, we will place on all the walls a double strip of adhesive tape with a little diatomaceous earth glued with the brush to about 1 meter of the ceiling.
